The menu in the café cum restaurant very much reflects the Artisan philosophy, and pretty much every dish has at least one specified local ingredient, often several. (Unfortunately I can't specify exactly where the ingredients for our meal had come from as I cannot find the menu listed on the Booths website.) I had a grilled steak sandwich with garlic mushrooms and chips, which came with a side salad and tomato chutney. It was really tasty, both the bread and the meat had a nice grilled flavour to them, the chips were excellent as was the salad. Martin had a northern rarebit – northern because the cheese was from Lancashire – which he really enjoyed as well. At 7 pounds and a bit for the steak sandwich and 3 pounds and a bit for the rarebit, it was reasonable value for money, and an enjoyable lunch. By Cecilia Campbell   Cancel
