Original review: During Cumbria food week, May 2006, to sample the seafood salad they put on as a special.

You have to put this place into perspective, it's a harbourside café; it serves good fresh food quickly and cheaply, it's busy, it's lively, the tables are close together and the chairs pretty rough. Ok so the scene is set, what about the seafood salad? In a word, excellent. Lots of different types of seafood, including baby scallops, the mussels were tender, not too chewy, the calamari scored and sliced to make it easy to eat. They can't do crawfish, but I've been spoilt rotten in Sweden. The salad was interesting, just a little to much red onion for me, but the dressing was fantastic, a good bite to it, but not too spicy. All in all, everything it promised to be. The staff were fast, friendly and fun. Would I go back? Of course I would, not for a quiet cosy lunch, but for a more or less sure fire tasty meal with a bit of a buzz guaranteed. Zest hit the palate on the head with my seafood salad and now we definitely want to check out their restaurant.
