Original review: March 25, 2007, for lunch
Head chef Simon Bolsover at Linthwaite House Hotel in Bowness mentioned The Masons Arms when we asked him for a good pub for food. There are two pubs in the village of Bowland Bridge, and this is the small one high up on the side of the hill, with a wonderful terrace in front and loads of outdoor seating. The views from the terrace, and from a couple of the tables inside, are stunning. The atmosphere inside is genuine English country inn, very cosy – snug even; this is not a pub for those who want privacy, but it all adds to the experience.

The food is good and fresh pub food: Martin had a lovely chicken breast and I had a prawn dish. The chips were great, and we generally enjoyed our lunch, although the food is not the main reason we are sure to come back; it's the whole country pub lunch experience.
