Original review: June 3, 2007, for lunch We were enticed to try this brand new restaurant in Windermere by an ad in the Westmorland Gazette promising live jazz to go with your Sunday lunch. Wicked is in the premises where Kwela used to be (another good 'un!) at the top of Windermere, by the Tourist Information Office. Unbelievably there was only us and another couple in there for this Sunday treat, and we got a table by the window.
Even without the music, which was great - piano and female vocalist who did a couple of our requests - this would have been a very good eating experience. We ordered four starters; potted Cumbrian beef with chutney, salmon mousse, oriental duck leg and port poached pear salad. It was all absolutely delicious (the salmon was my favourite, and I'm not even that big a salmon fan!). The glass of wine was not skimped on and the general feel of the place pleasant and relaxed. We will definitely go back for dinner, and hope that the menu will change with the seasons. One or two more seafood mains (there was only one) might be good too. We would recommend Wicked to anyone - give these new guys a chance!
