I am very sorry to say that I can find neither website nor telephone number for this restaurant online – will check in when I am next in Penrith

Most recent review:
June 6, 2009, for lunch.
We arrived for lunch at about 11.45, and the place was still heaving with brunch visitors, but we managed to get a table. I ordered roasted butternut squash with goats cheese salad, and Martin had Chilli cheese toast with a yoghurt and cucumber dip – both dishes as good as we've come to expect from No. 15. We ordered a ham sandwich for Luke, which was just lovely with warm (I assume freshly baked) ham. The restaurant was very busy as usual, so we had to wait a while for our food, which is no problem when there's a box of toys and books in the corner. Nevertheless, we were offered an extra free drink by the waitress because of the wait – without asking. Very good service! Still a favourite.

Unfortunately, No.15 does not seem to have a website...but is located on Victoria Road in Penrith. This is a fairly recent discovery for us, but since we found it in 2007, we have been back many times. There are a few things that particularly attract us to this café/restaurant. It has spacious premises, with plenty of room for pushchairs, and is indeed eminently child friendly, with toys available, and a generally relaxed atmosphere. In fact, the second time we went, Martin asked whether we'd stumbled on some Mothers-and-Babies morning. Not so, just people enjoying a day out.

The second truly great thing is the food. This is one of those rare places, like the Jumble Room, where you can get a lunch that doesn't taste more or less like any other café/pub lunch you've ever had. There is plenty of imagination and flavour on the menu. On our most recent visit I had Chilli Cheese on Toasted Ciabatta with jalapenos, rocket, roasted red peppers and a fantastic cucumber yoghurt – YUM! Some other examples of what they serve: Skewered prawns with ginger, lime and chilli sauce and spicy couscous, Lamb tangine, Veggie or Carnivorous mezze, Trio of haloumi and Bruschetta of smoked salmon with guacamole.

The staff is very friendly and accomodating, the bread & bakeries are great, there are sofas, newspapers, good music, art on the walls. In other words – our kind of place!
