Original review: May 1, 2008, for lunch We were recommended this restaurant by an acquaintance, and when we got there found out it changed hands about two years ago. It's probably been that long since we've had any kind of meal in Glenridding, and this was a find.
Fellbites serves both lunch and dinner, and there are two different menus. We were there for lunch and Martin had an Aberdeen Angus Steak Burger, which he (and little Luke) thoroughly enjoyed: clearly high qualtiy meat and well prepared. I had two starters, Homemade Deep Fried Potato Wedges with garlic mayo (there was a choice of dips), and Rosemary and Goats Cheese Croquettes, both of which were tasty and fresh.
The restaurant is in a bit of an odd location, in the middle of the main Glenridding carpark, but it has great outdoor seating, and a hedge provides privacy. Inside is cosy and friendly and we enjoyed the relaxed athmosphere. Lunches are competitively priced, especially starters and sandwiches (about half the price of some pubs we've recently visited in South Lakes). Dinner starters are all less than a fiver and mains between 9 and 15 pounds. The menu looks tempting, and we'll definitely give it a try at some point.
