CAFÉ RATING Would we come back? Yes High point: Fresh food and premises Could be improved: One or two more choices for hot meals, like a Today's special, would be great.

Original review: October 11, 2008, for lunch There are some very nice cafés in Keswick, and this is one of them. It's housed on the ground floor of the interesting Treeby Gallery, which sells arts and crafts beyond the normal Lake District tourist stuff. In addition to the sweet stuff, the café offers crèpes and omelettes, sandwiches, salads, platters with local smoked fish, meat or cheese and other light meals. There are the usual coffees, teas and soft drinks plus wines and beers.
I had a chicken, asparagus and blue cheese tart, Martin a sunblush tomato, goats cheese and caramelised red onion one, and they were both good. They were served with nicely dressed fresh salads, although I'm sincerely tired of all the raw onions you get on salads around here - this even had a whole spring onion in it. Seriously.
The atmosphere is nice, and there was plenty of space for Luke's sizeable push chair.
