In conjunction with the Marmalade Festival there's a chance to take part in what promises to be a really special food workshop, in the amazing kitchen at Dalemain House. Dalemain's Jane Hasell-McCosh, organiser of the festival, is hosting it, and Cumbria's top food ambassador Annette Gibbons OBE will be running the Citrus Cookery Workshop. It takes place on Wednesday February 3 from 10.30 to about 3.30.

The day will begin with coffee and biscuits and a welcome by Jane Hasell-McCosh and Annette, followed by the cooking where you'll see lots of citrus inspired chicken and fish dishes, including Annette's homemade Preserved Lemons, a Bitter Orange and Chocolate Torte and a Passion Fruit and Orange Tart. Lunch will be of the finished dishes, plus a few extras and a glass of wine, served in the medieval hall. After lunch there will be an opportunity to meet local food producers and buy their products. The day will finish around 3.30 with tea.
According to Annette, this is a great day out whether you're a skilled cook or interested amateur or just enjoy watching someone else work and having the chance to have a taste of Cumbria's best flavours. Knowing Jane and Annette, you will have a fun as well as inspiring day.
The workshop costs £60, payable in advance. Details on the Festival website, or ring Annette on 01900 881 356 to book. There are limited spaces!
