I feel like I've gone back in a time warp, because this week I've been working at the Swan hotel in Grasmere, the place where I served nearly 5 years as an apprentice back in the very early 80s. So much has changed, but it is nice to be back in Grasmere, which I consider as one of the more beautiful of villages in Cumbria.

Walking around the village took me back nearly 25 years to when I was a young kid just fresh out of Liverpool. From the hussle and bussle of Bootle to the peace and tranquility of Grasmere, "I settled in very quickly".
It's nice to have the oppurtunity to go back to the place I started my career as a chef, a lot older now but with the same memories. Nick.... |

Hi Nick, I added a picture of Grasmere, taken last year at about this time of the year, it really is a beautiful place. We will call into the Swan to see if you are about and introduce you to Luke! - Martin
