Luke is now well into his solid food, and I spend at least a night a week cooking pretty tasty food for him. Of course, you can't add salt to baby food, but there's no reason not to season it in other ways – he has to get used to different flavours.
This was Sundays production:

Pink top left: Shepherd Pie, which had a base of tomato sauce including peeled and seeded tomatoes, onions, garlic, organic tomato purée, oregano and beef, run in the blender together with some boiled Maris Piper and milk.
Green bottom left: Fishy delight! Cod boiled in water with carrots, pepper corns, onion and bay leaf, boiled potatoes, dill, wilted spinach and cheese sauce. When I make cheese sauce I heat up the milk first with peppercorns, onion and bayleaf, so that it has some flavour. Also, pre-heating it helps prevent lumps. This time I used quite a mild cheese, but Luke likes mature cheddar as well!
Green middle: Spinach, potatoes and cheese sauce. I try to add some carbohydrates to everything (most often potatoes), so that it becomes more of a meal than just veg and cheese.
White right: Cauliflower and cheese (i e cheese sauce), also with some added boiled Maris Piper.
Orange right: Sweet potato with tomato sauce and fresh basil. I make the tomato sauce by frying onions and peeled & seeded tomatoes in some butter, and then adding the basil right at the end. It's then mixed with the steamed sweet potatoes. This is Luke's favourite, so nice and sweet, thanks to both the basil and the sweet potatoes. And so nutritious!
It may seem like a lot of work preparing all this food, but the trick is to use some base ingredients in many different ways, like the boiled potatoes, cheese sauce and tomato sauce. And I think it's worth it, Luke eats really well!
