I am normally a very positive and generally forgiving sort, but I have had enough. My favourite cranberry juice (not at all produced locally – so call me a heretic!), from American producer Ocean Spray, changed their packaging, specifically the opening mechanism, about a year ago. It is crap, scuse the French. So I did something I have never done before; I wrote and complained:

Dear Ocean Spray,
You make the only truly great cranberry juice I have ever tasted, I adore its tartness and even my 1 year old loves it. However, I am coming close to stopping buying it since you introduced the truly asinine new opening (and I use the word loosely) mechanisms on the drinks cartons. Have you really not discovered that they just DON'T WORK!!?? Every time I, or someone else in my family, including my ex engineer husband, try to open one, the plastic mechanism fails to pierce the carton without bending all out of shape, and by the time you get to that stage (with or without the help of a knife), the plastic has come loose from the carton at some point, and the whole thing just drips and leaks when you try to pour.
I cannot for the life of me understand why you changed from the perfectly good previous solution. Please do a customer survey or something, and find out what people really think about your packaging, and then do something about it. I, for one, will not be able to take it much longer.
Sorry to be so negative, but I do LOVE the juice!!
Best regards
Cecilia Campbell

I so know what you mean Cecilia,
I've found this with packaging for coulis, Cream and juices,
Now when you can actually pop open the carton it has a tendency to go off like a supersoaker, I can't get my fingers into the economic piece of foil that is under the flap,
so I find myself stabbing at it with a knife,
Now I love Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice, Allbeit with tonnes of ice and a generous splash of vodka,
But the feeling is pretty much the same,
Nick....
