Unbelievably, my tirade against Ocean Spray's cartons (well, the opening mechanisms actually), prompted a response. And lo, and behold – they are changing them (although not very soon)!
Voilá:
Hi Cecilia,
We were sorry to hear of your complaint concerning the new cap on the above product and that you are experiencing difficulties in opening it. We are always most concerned to learn that a consumer has found dissatisfaction regarding any of the products we manufacture, especially in light of the strict Quality Assurance procedures which are in place, to ensure products reach consumers in optimum condition.
This form of opening has been used in the UK for many years and was subject to extensive testing prior to its use; however we are aware that some people have been experiencing difficulty in opening them. In light of this we are working with our suppliers on an alternative cap which we hope will be available towards the end on the year. In the mean time ways to optimise the equipment and packaging to make the opening of the current cap easier are constantly under review. In light of this we are working with our suppliers on ways to optimize the equipment and packaging to make the opening of the pack easier, whilst ensuring the product retains its integrity.
Thank you for your comments which will be passed to both our marketing department and the cap supplier who are always keen to have feedback which can be used in the continuous improvement of our products.
